Strengthening organisations that build financial resilience and reduce extreme poverty.
I have long-standing experience helping shape how organisations design programmes, understand customer outcomes and use learning and evidence to improve practice.
This work applies the same principles outlined throughout this website: clarity about the change being sought, alignment between services and outcomes, and practical systems for learning and improvement.
Financial inclusion and microfinance
I support financial service providers, investors and sector organisations to strengthen the link between financial services and the outcomes they are intended to support.
The focus is on aligning products, services and delivery systems with the realities of customers’ lives. My work typically involves helping organisations:
• understand customer needs, experiences and financial behaviours
• design or adapt products and delivery systems to support customer outcomes
• strengthen customer protection and social performance management
• build learning and impact systems that track how services affect clients over time
• use this learning to improve product design, delivery and portfolio management.
Extreme poverty ‘Graduation’ and economic inclusion programmes
I support organisations designing, implementing and evaluating Graduation and economic inclusion programmes that aim to help households move out of extreme poverty and build sustainable livelihoods.
These programmes typically combine livelihood support, financial inclusion, coaching and social protection, and their effectiveness depends on how well they are adapted to local economic and social contexts.
My work focuses on strengthening programme design and learning, including:
• analysing local livelihoods systems and poverty dynamics
• clarifying programme theory of change and pathways to sustained poverty reduction
• designing or adapting programme components such as livelihoods support, coaching, savings and market linkages
• strengthening monitoring, learning and adaptive management systems
• conducting formative evaluations to understand what drives outcomes and how programmes can improve.
