Our approach.
Our role is to help you bring impact back to the centre of how your organisation thinks, decides, and acts.
There are no off-the-shelf answers. We work alongside you to build clarity, focus, and practical ways of managing impact that fit your organisation, your context, and the challenges you are facing now.
Strengthen your impact practice.
Our work is built around four connected building blocks.
Organisations can start anywhere, but impact is strongest when all four are in place.
Theory of change and impact strategy.
Get clear on the pathway to the change you exist to create.
We help you articulate:
The difference you exist to make
Who you are trying to create that change for
How your products, services, or activities are expected to contribute
Which operational details really make a difference
This is not an academic exercise.
Together, we surface assumptions, priorities, and trade-offs so you can focus on what truly matters. The result is a shared understanding of impact that guides decisions across the organisation.
Measurement for learning and decision-making.
Measure what matters and manage what counts.
We help you:
Identify a small number of meaningful indicators linked to the change you are trying to create
Design proportionate, practical ways of using information you already collect
Integrate learning into existing processes, rather than creating parallel systems
The focus is not on perfect data. It is information that helps you understand what is working, what is not, and where to adapt.
Embedding impact across the organisation.
Make impact everybody’s business.
Impact does not sit in one role or one team. It is shaped by decisions made every day.
We help you bring an impact lens into:
Strategy and planning
Governance and leadership conversations
Programme, product, or service design and delivery
Performance management, learning, and improvement
Communications and external engagement
This includes building simple routines that make impact visible and usable, and supporting teams to take shared ownership so impact becomes part of how the organisation works.
Learning, improvement, and communication.
Learn, adapt, and tell a clear story of your difference.
We support you to:
Make sense of what you are seeing
Ask better questions about what is working and why
Adapt what is not delivering the outcomes you want
We also help you communicate your impact clearly and confidently, by explaining how your work creates value, what you are learning, and how you are responding to challenges with honesty and intent.
Ways we can work together.
-
Sometimes the most useful starting point is a short external review to clarify how impact currently works across the organisation and where the biggest opportunities lie. This helps leadership identify priority areas for strengthening strategy, systems and reporting.
Our Impact Action Review, may be a good starting point.
-
Where organisations want a more detailed assessment, the work can look more closely at how impact is embedded across strategy, delivery and organisational systems. The result is usually a clear Theory of Change together with practical recommendations for strengthening strategy, measurement and management.
-
Some organisations already know what they need and want focused support on a particular element such as developing a Theory of Change, defining impact indicators, strengthening measurement systems, or aligning strategy and products with impact goals.
-
In some cases I work with organisations over a longer period, acting as an external advisor or fractional impact lead as impact becomes embedded across strategy, management and reporting.
What working together looks like.
How I work.
My approach is practical and tailored. There is no single template. The starting point is understanding your organisation, your ambitions, and the questions you want to answer.
Work typically begins with a small number of focused conversations with leaders and key staff, alongside a review of relevant documents, data, or reporting. This builds a clear picture of how your organisation currently creates impact and where greater clarity could make the biggest difference.
From there the work typically combines short interviews with staff, stakeholders or clients with structured workshops where the team works through key questions together. Preparation happens in advance so sessions focus on refining ideas and making decisions, rather than starting from scratch.
What this often produces in practice.
A shared Theory of Change that leaders and teams actually use
A small set of impact questions that shape planning and review
Data collection integrated into existing customer and stakeholder touchpoints
Simple dashboards that balance performance, outcomes and learning
Clear roles and routines for reflection and adaptation
Decision prompts that connect day-to-day choices back to impact
Reporting formats that support learning internally and clarity externally
These are not extra layers of work.
They are ways of making impact part of how the organisation already operates.
Turn clarity into action.
